Sunday, October 5th, 2025 3:06 AM.
I don’t know what it is about late nights, but something about them makes me want to write again. A lot has been happening lately, but here’s what I want you to know for now.

Welcome to another episode of “Through Daniel’s Eyes” — a series where I talk about myself, what I’ve been up to, and the random things that make me, well… me. 😂

🚀 Personal Development & Upskilling

This year, I made a promise to take personal growth seriously, and for once, I actually stuck to it lol. I’ve read about 7 books since March, and it’s been refreshing getting lost in new ideas again.

💼 Crossed $20K on Upwork.
This one means a lot. It’s been a journey of building trust, delivering results, and showing up for clients consistently. But more than the number, it’s a reminder that good work really does speak for itself.

📹 1,000+ Subscribers on YouTube.
Guuuuyyyy 😭 this one made me genuinely happy. Even though I’ve been inconsistent (life happens), seeing people connect with my content enough to subscribe means the world. If you haven’t joined the community yet, come through, we’re just getting started.

✍🏽 Started this Blog.
Yep, this one right here. Writing here has been one of the best decisions I’ve made this year. Over 6,000+ readers later, I’ve realized something simple: the world will listen, you just have to speak.

🌍 Networking IRL.
I’ve attended way more tech events this year than ever before. My social battery still runs out fast 😂, but I’m definitely getting better at putting myself out there. I’ll also be at Moonshot by TechCabal on the 15th & 16th of this month, so if you’re around, pull up!

🎧 Curated a Late-Night Playlist.
If you work late like I do, this one’s for us. 🚀

🫶🏽 Community Building & Public Speaking

This year, I’ve spoken at over 3 events, including Build with AI Ilorin, and a few others lined up like DevFest Ilorin and DevFest Ogbomoso. I’m still hoping to speak in Abuja before the year ends. I don’t know how yet, but it’ll happen, somehow, it always does.

On July 1st, I gave away internet MIFIs, tools, and resources to over 50 people online and offline. It was my little way of saying thank you to everyone building in public, for showing up, sharing your journey, and putting your work out there.

A reminder if you need one today:

You’re not invisible.
Your efforts are not wasted.
The internet can be noisy, but someone sees you.

And I mean that, because I’ve been there too. God is good, and I’m grateful for everyone who helped make that giveaway possible. 🙏🏽

This year alone, I’ve helped 200+ people land their first gigs on Upwork, with over 70 earning $1,000+ already. Seeing people win and create income from their skills, even if I never meet them, is honestly one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.

🎥 Content Creation

This year has also been huge for me as a content creator.
I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing brands through tweets, videos, and user-generated content (UGC).

Some of my favorite collaborations? Cleva Bank and Geegpay by Raenest.
I even got honored with the Cleva People’s Award, a recognition for individuals shaping the freelancing and remote work scene in Nigeria. 🙏🏽

And yeah, I recently upgraded my content creation gear too! 😭
Super pumped about that one.

I honestly can’t wait to fully dive into the travel, tech, and lifestyle content space, I feel like that’s where I belong.

If you’re a brand reading this and would love to work with me, reach out.
I know what makes my audience tick, and I can help you connect with them authentically without sounding too “salesy.” I’ve got proof of work too, so feel free to look me up 😉

Now, this one… this one’s special.

After sitting on the idea for over a year, I finally wrote the first line of code for Provolo on July 13th, 2025. Watching it take shape and become everything I once imagined has been surreal.

The support? Unreal.
Over 2,000+ feedback submissions, an amazing team, 1,600+ followers on X, 4K+ readers on our blog, and 2,500 people on the waitlist for launch.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been building quietly, and this time, I feel a new kind of confidence.
This isn’t just another project. It’s something that matters.

For months, maybe even too long, this idea lived only in my head. It was sketches, late-night notes, and conversations that always ended with, “someday, I’ll start.” That someday finally came, and today, Provolo is slowly taking shape before my eyes.

And let me tell you, watching it grow from a dream into something real fills me with a joy I can hardly describe.

The Power of Community 💡

Since that first commit, the support has been nothing short of unreal:

Over 2,000 of you have shared your feedback, ideas, and encouragement.

An incredible team of creatives has rallied around this vision, each one adding their own spark to Provolo’s journey.

Behind the scenes, a lot has been brewing, long nights, big decisions, and endless iterations. But unlike before, there’s a new sense of clarity and confidence guiding every step.

What If We Fail? What If We Fly? ✈️

Building something new always comes with risks. There are moments of doubt, of wondering if we’ll get it right.

But here’s the thing: what if we fail? Sure, that’s one possibility.

But what if we fly? What if this becomes something greater than we ever imagined?

That thought keeps me moving, keeps our team building, and keeps this vision alive.

From here, the only way is UP. 🏌🏾‍♂️🏌🏾‍♂️🏌🏾‍♂️

NotebookLM is like having an AI-powered study buddy who has read all your notes, textbooks, and research materials, and is always ready to explain them to you.

It’s built on Google’s Gemini models, but unlike a general AI chatbot, it doesn’t just pull answers from the internet. Instead, you upload your own materials, documents, PDFs, slides, even audio or video, and NotebookLM only gives you answers based on those. That means no made-up information, just what’s actually in your sources.

Think of it as your personal research assistant who helps you understand things faster, spot connections, and prepare for exams or projects.

How it works

NotebookLM operates on the concept of "notebooks" to help you organize and interact with your information. Here's a breakdown:

Each notebook is like a folder for a subject, project, or topic.

You give it a title and upload your study materials (class notes, lecture slides, PDFs, recorded lectures, etc.).

Once uploaded, you can:

Get summaries of each reading or lecture

Find connections between different authors or topics

Generate outlines for essays or projects

Ask specific questions about your sources

Even create quizzes to test yourself

So if you’re writing a research paper or cramming for an exam, NotebookLM helps break things down and makes the material easier to digest.

How it’s different from other AI tools 🤔

Focused on your materials: Unlike chatbots that give generic answers, NotebookLM only uses the content you provide.

Interactive learning: You can ask questions, request explanations, or even turn your sources into quizzes.

Accurate + reliable: If the answer isn’t in your sources, it will say so instead of guessing.

Basically, it’s like having a professor or tutor who has read exactly what you need to study and can explain it anytime.

How you as a student can use it

Research papers – Upload all your readings and let NotebookLM summarize key points, highlight disagreements, and even help you draft outlines.

Studying for exams – Upload lecture notes, slides, and textbooks, then ask NotebookLM to quiz you, explain tricky parts, or give you summaries.

Preparing for presentations – Upload your slides and get speaker notes or possible practice questions.

Learn by listening – Turn your readings into audio summaries (like a podcast) so you can revise while walking or commuting.

Group projects – Share a notebook with your teammates so everyone can ask questions and create summaries together.

NotebookLM in action

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dHmu1GALmA&t=32s

When you and your classmates use a shared NotebookLM, it’s like studying with one big, smart notebook that everyone can add to and learn from. Together, you can:

Ask questions and get clear explanations from the same set of notes.

Build shared summaries or study guides that include everyone’s ideas.

Spot connections (and even contradictions) between different sources or opinions.

Keep everyone updated with the latest notes, readings, or changes.

In short, a shared NotebookLM feels like a collective brain for your study group. Everyone contributes, and everyone benefits, making group projects, exam prep, and study sessions much more effective.

Key takeaway

NotebookLM = AI-powered study partner.
It helps you:

Learn faster

Understand material better

Stay organized across subjects

Save time on research and revision

Instead of just reading and re-reading, you now have a tool that can summarize, explain, and quiz you on your own study materials.

But as impressive as it is, AI sometimes hallucinates, generating information that sounds convincing but isn’t actually true.

This is where grounding comes in. Think of grounding as a reality check for AI. It ensures the model’s outputs are connected to real-world data and verifiable sources, making its responses accurate, reliable, and relevant.

What Is Grounding?

Grounding is the process of tying an AI model’s answers to a trusted data source.

At the enterprise level, this might mean connecting an AI to your company’s internal resources, such as codebases, documents, reports, or customer data. Doing so allows the AI to generate responses tailored to your organization’s needs while reducing the risk of fabricated or irrelevant answers.

📔

In short, grounding is a safety net. It keeps AI systems trustworthy and ensures they deliver value in real-world applications.

Why Grounding Is Essential 🧠

Grounding is essential for building trustworthy and reliable AI applications. By connecting your models to verifiable data, you ensure accuracy and build confidence.
It offers several key benefits, including reducing hallucinations, which prevents the AI from generating false or fictional information.
Grounding also anchors responses, ensuring the AI's answers are rooted in your provided data sources. Furthermore, it builds trust by enhancing the trustworthiness of the AI's output by providing citations and confidence scores, allowing you to verify the information.

Methods of Grounding

There are different approaches to grounding, depending on your goals.

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

RAG is one of the most common grounding techniques.

Here’s how it works, step by step:

Retrieval: When you ask the AI a question, it doesn’t just guess an answer. Instead, it searches a connected knowledge base (like company documents or the web) to pull in relevant information. The search is based on meaning, not just keywords, so if you ask “how to fix login issues,” it can find documents about “authentication errors” too.

Augmentation: The retrieved information is then attached to your question, creating an enriched “prompt” for the AI.

Generation: Using both its built-in knowledge and the new information, the AI generates an answer that’s grounded in real data.

Think of RAG like giving the AI a quick research assistant; it looks things up first, then answers.

Prompt Engineering

Prompt engineering is the easiest way to ground an AI model.

It’s about asking better questions so the AI gives better answers. For example:

Instead of: “Write about marketing.”

You ask: “Write a 200-word blog post about email marketing strategies for small businesses.”

By being specific, you guide the AI and reduce the chance of it going off track. However, prompt engineering has limits. The AI can only work with the knowledge it was trained on; it won’t magically know your company’s private data unless you connect it.

Fine-Tuning

When prompt engineering alone doesn’t achieve the desired results, fine-tuning can significantly improve a model’s performance. Pre-trained models are strong general-purpose tools, but tuning tailors them for specialized tasks. This is especially valuable when you need consistent output formats or already have sample outputs to guide the model.

✴

Quick Read: Learn more about How to Tune Generative AI Models

Fine-tuning works by continuing the training of a pre-trained or foundation model on a task-specific dataset. This process adjusts the model’s parameters, making it more aligned with your use case. Google Cloud Vertex AI provides tools to simplify this tuning process.

Here are some examples of how tuning can be used:

Fine-tuning a language model to generate creative content in a specific style.

Fine-tuning a code generation model to generate code in a particular programming language.

Fine-tuning a translation model to translate between specific languages or domains.

Humans in the Loop (HITL)

Even with grounding, AI isn’t perfect. That’s why humans often stay “in the loop.”

HITL means people review or guide the AI’s work at key points—for example:

Before generation: A human sets rules or reviews prompts.

During generation, A human may give feedback to adjust the AI’s output.

After generation: A human checks the results for accuracy, tone, or safety.

This is crucial in sensitive areas like:

Content moderation

Legal or medical advice

Financial decision-making

Think of HITL as the final safeguard; AI does the heavy lifting, but humans make sure the final result is correct and responsible.

In short:

RAG = AI searches for the right info first.

Prompting = Asking better, more specific questions.

Fine-tuning = Training AI with your own data so it specializes.

HITL = Humans double-check and guide the AI’s work.

Final Thoughts

Generative AI is transformative, but without grounding, it risks producing content that’s inaccurate or misleading. By anchoring outputs in trusted data sources, whether through RAG, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or human oversight, you build systems that are reliable, trustworthy, and tailored to your specific needs.

Grounding isn’t just a technical step; it’s the foundation for creating AI you can trust.

If you’re a freelancer, the difference between good and great output often comes down to how you use your tools. This guide will help you:

🎯 Give crystal-clear instructions (advanced prompting)

⚙️ Train Gemini to become a specialist in your niche (fine-tuning)

Whether you write, market, or create content, these techniques will make you stand out and deliver client work that’s hard to match.

Part 1: Advanced Prompting, The Art of Giving Clear Instructions

Think of a prompt as your request to Gemini. A vague request = generic results. A structured, specific request = outputs that match your style and needs.

1. Zero-Shot Prompting

What it is: Asking Gemini to do a task without giving any examples.
🧠 Like asking a smart friend to handle something they’ve never done, but can figure out.

Example:

Give me five blog post headlines about the benefits of remote work.

2. Few-Shot Prompting

What it is: Giving Gemini a few examples first, so it learns the tone, style, and structure before doing your task.
🧠 Like showing your assistant 2–3 finished pieces before asking for a new one.

Before (Simple Prompt):

Write a product description for a retro toaster.

After (Few-Shot Prompt):

Here are two examples of the style I want:

Example 1:
"The Midnight Voyager Mug, This isn't just a mug; it's a vessel for your cosmic journeys..."

Example 2:
"The Chronos Clock, Tired of time slipping away?..."

Now, write a product description for a retro toaster in this style.

✅ Why it works: Gemini now mimics tone, style, and length-perfect for matching a client’s brand voice.

3. Chain-of-Thought Prompting (CoT)

What it is: Asking Gemini to “think step-by-step” before giving the final answer.
🧠 Like asking someone to explain their reasoning before deciding.

Example:

Think step-by-step to create a 7-day social media schedule for an eco-friendly brand.

1. List the brand's core values.
2. Brainstorm content ideas matching those values.
3. Create a daily schedule mixing post types.
4. Write out the week's plan.

✅ Why it works: Produces more logical, organized, and on-brand outputs.

4. Tool Use

What it is: Letting Gemini “call” other tools for real-time or external data.

Example: Writing about Google’s stock price, Gemini can pull live data via a connected script, then use it in the article.
📈 Perfect for dynamic, always-updated content.

Part 2: Fine-Tuning, Training a Specialist ⚙️

Advanced prompting makes Gemini smarter for one-off tasks. Fine-tuning makes it a permanent expert in your domain.

When to Fine-Tune:

🗣 Consistent Brand Voice: Train it on past content for on-brand copy every time.

📚 Niche Expertise: Feed it industry-specific docs for expert-level output.

🔄 Repetitive Tasks: Bulk-generate product descriptions, classify feedback, etc., with high accuracy.

How It Works (Simple Version):

Gather Data: Create a file of task examples + ideal outputs.

Upload & Train: Use Gemini’s tools to train a custom model.

Deploy Your Specialist: Use it for client work—better, faster, more consistent results.

Quick-Reference Cheat Sheet 📝

Then compare the difference. You’ll see why the out-of-the-box way is leaving money on the table.

Conclusion: Become an AI Master, Not Just a User

You’ve delivered results.
But your profile? It doesn’t seem to land. Or worse, it barely shows up in searches.

You tweak your bio again. You try new templates. Maybe even hire a coach.
Still, something’s missing.

That exact frustration is what inspired Provolo, an AI-powered profile optimizer built specifically for freelancers on platforms like Upwork. My goal is bold but focused:

✨ Help freelancers position themselves better, land more clients, and do it all, without having to become prompt engineers.

This post takes you behind the scenes of how Provolo works, why I built it, and how I’ve engineered a seamless user experience powered by Google’s Gemini Pro.

The Problem: Why Freelancer Profiles Fail

Most freelancers don’t fail because they lack skills.

They struggle with:

❌ Vague or generic bios that blend into the noise

❌ Poor positioning, not knowing who they serve or how to say it

❌ Weak niche clarity or keyword alignment

❌ Low visibility on search due to mismatched skills and titles

Existing solutions like coaching, templates, or community advice are:

Expensive

Time-consuming

Generic

Or just outdated

🔥 The Idea Behind Provolo

Provolo was born from a simple insight:

Freelancers don’t need more advice. They need actionable upgrades, delivered fast, tailored to them, and powered by AI that actually understands nuance.

I set out to build a tool that:

Delivers immediate clarity

Matches your tone and audience

Suggests specific improvements

Requires zero prompt engineering from the user

Who Is Provolo For?

Provolo is designed for a wide range of freelancers, including:

New freelancers trying to make a strong first impression

Intermediate freelancers who want to improve conversion and visibility

Anyone struggling to articulate their value or attract the right clients

How Gemini Works (Under the Hood)

The engine behind Provolo is powered by Google’s Gemini Pro via their Generative Language API.

Here’s a deep dive into how I structured the full system:

Input Flow:

Users provide structured input including:

Current bio (freeform text)

Main service niche Preferred tone (professional, friendly, bold, etc.)

Top skills Target client type

Processing:

The inputs are sent as structured prompts to Gemini Pro via API.

The prompt templates are dynamically constructed based on the user’s niche and tone preferences.

Gemini Pro generates optimized bios, skill suggestions, and headline ideas.

Outputs are parsed and formatted to match Upwork’s guidelines.

Inputs are validated using Zod schemas, ensuring users don’t accidentally send incomplete or malformed data to the AI.

2. Prompt Engineering with Gemini

Once inputs are submitted,

We dynamically generate prompt instructions based on user’s niche and tone

The structured prompts is sent to Gemini Pro for context generation

Gemini returns optimised suggestions like

A revised Bio tailored to Upwork

Skill and Project Title recommendations

Visual Layout ideas for better presentation

3. Data Validation

All inputs and Outputs are validated using strict schema rules to ensure reliability and avoid broken or malformed data. This helps us maintain consistent and clean results throughout the experience.

4. The Output Experience

The results are shown in an expandable accordion interface, with each section formatted using markdown:

Headers

Lists

Bold emphasis

Emojis for scan-ability

This makes it easier for users to absorb insights, copy results, and apply them to Upwork or personal sites.

What’s Coming Next

We’re just getting started. Here’s what’s in the pipeline:

Title generator based on skills + tone

Proposal writing assistant for job applications

Keyword search visibility estimator

Built for Freelancers, Not Prompt Engineers

You shouldn’t need a PhD in prompt engineering to write a winning freelance bio.

Provolo removes the guesswork, the fluff, and the friction, so you can focus on doing what you do best: delivering results for clients.

Whether you're new to Upwork or a seasoned pro looking to sharpen your edge, Provolo is here to help you show up stronger.

But the truth is,

“Becoming” is not loud.

It’s not in the fireworks.
Not in the applause.
Not even in the final form we so desperately chase.

“Becoming” is quiet.
It lives in the unnoticed hours.
In the long nights when no one is watching.
In the small, intentional decisions that earn no recognition.
It’s in the breaking, and the sacred, slow work of building again.

Growth rarely looks like progress from the outside.
It’s uncomfortable.
It demands patience.
It’s the ache of letting go of what no longer fits, even when it once felt like home.

To “become”, you must shed old versions of yourself.
You must learn the humility of starting over.
And summon the courage to stay the course when everything inside you whispers, "Just give up."

Along the way, you will lose things.
People.
Comfort.
Certainties you thought would always be there.
And yet, in their place, you gain something far more powerful:
Depth.
Clarity.
Truth.

“Becoming” is not just about arrival.
It’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you—
So that, in time, you can step fully into everything that is.

And when that time comes, you’ll find yourself not at the doorstep of perfection,
But at the gentle threshold of peace.

Then, and only then, will you understand:
Every scar, every silence, every step—
Was worth it.

You’re building a library, not a billboard.
That thread you wrote, that Loom breakdown, that half-finished side project, these aren’t wasted efforts. They’re shelves on a digital bookshelf that’ll one day matter to the person who finally discovers your work.

Let’s talk about why you should keep going, how to do it well, and how I personally approach building in public.

Why You Should Build in Public (Even If You Don’t Have an Audience)

🚀 Attract Like-Minded People:
When you build in public, you’re giving others a window into your thinking and process. That’s magnetic. It draws collaborators, clients, and friends who resonate with how you think, not just what you do.
Audiences don’t just appear. They gather. Slowly. One post at a time. One perspective at a time.

📚 Document, Don’t Just Promote:
Every project update, bug fix, or lesson learned becomes a resource. People love real. They connect more with a scrappy mid-process log than a polished "just launched!" announcement.

🔁 Get Feedback Earlier:
Waiting until something is perfect before sharing it is a recipe for burnout. Building in public opens up opportunities for early feedback, pivots, and collaboration.

⏳ It Pays Off Long-Term:
Your tweets or LinkedIn posts may not pop off today, but in six months, someone might binge your backlog and hire you because they saw your journey.

How Not to Build in Public ❌

Here are a few things I see often, and try to avoid:

❌ Building “for clout” not clarity:
If you’re only sharing to impress people, your updates will feel hollow. People sense when you’re being performative. Build to learn. Build to teach. Clout comes after clarity.

❌ Oversharing with no direction:
Don’t confuse vulnerability with noise. Not everything has to be posted. Curate what you share: what did you learn, struggle with, or try differently?

❌ Only showing wins:
If all your posts sound like “🚀 just shipped this awesome thing,” people won’t relate. Share the bugs. The pivots. The things that didn’t go as planned. That’s where trust is built.

A Demo: How I Would Build in Public 🧠

Let’s imagine I’m building Pulseboard… a clean, no-BS dashboard that helps creators track their growth across platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube in one view.

Here’s exactly how I’d build it in public:

📌 Day / Post 1: Make People Care About the Problem

“Keeping track of growth across different platforms feels like chasing shadows. Each has its own analytics page, and none of them talk to each other. I’m building a simple dashboard for creators to get clarity.”

The goal here is to resonate. You’re not selling a solution yet, you’re surfacing a shared pain.

✏️ Day / Post 2: Tease the Concept (Rough and Honest)

“Been sketching out an idea for Pulseboard. It connects to your socials and gives a single-glance view of your weekly growth, top posts, and engagement rate. Just a napkin sketch for now, but I’m excited.”

This says: I’m not building in a silo. I want your eyes, feedback, and maybe even your hype.

🧩 Day / Post 3: Share Small Wins That Feel Tangible

“Got OAuth working with Twitter & LinkedIn 🎉. Took me 4 hours and lots of trial-and-error. Still need to clean up the onboarding flow, but the core data is now syncing.”

Every small win is an opportunity to:

📉 Day / Post 4: Normalize Setbacks Without Complaining

“Spent most of today figuring out rate limits on the LinkedIn API. Kind of wild how limited access is unless you’re in their partner program. Might need a workaround, open to ideas.”

This keeps you real and approachable. People love following builders who don’t pretend it’s easy.

🌱 Day / Post 5: Let the Early Version Be Ugly But Useful
“Pushed the first test version of Pulseboard. No fancy UI, just raw data and a few graphs. If you’re a creator curious about your growth across socials, I’d love to get your eyes on this.”

What I Want People to Pick Up From My Process 🤔

I move fast, even when things are messy

I’m here to solve real problems, not just build cool features

You can follow the journey, not just the result

Whether Pulseboard takes off or not, I’d leave behind a trail of ideas, learnings, screenshots, and experiments that someone else might use to build their version later. And that’s the beauty of building in public, it creates value whether you go viral or not.

What I Want People to Know About Me When I Build in Public 🙂

This is key. Building in public isn’t just about what you’re doing, it’s about how people perceive you. When I share my process, I want people to see:

✅ I’m resourceful: I make things happen with what I have.
✅ I’m transparent: I don’t wait for perfect; I show the messy middle.
✅ I’m collaborative: I ask questions, respond to feedback, and share lessons.
✅ I’m available: If you like how I work, you can work with me.

Closing Thought 💭

You might feel like no one’s listening right now. That’s fine. Keep posting. Keep building. One day, someone will stumble on your thread, your post, your project, and it’ll be exactly what they needed.

And they’ll say, “I feel like I already know how this person works.”

Because you didn’t just launch.
You built in public.

“Is AI a threat… or a tool?”

It’s a valid question. Headlines are loud. Timelines are chaotic. But here’s the truth:

AI isn’t here to replace you.
Freelancers who master AI will replace those who don’t.

Big difference.

And once you understand it, you’ll stop feeling threatened, and start feeling powerful.

🧩 Freelance in 2025: Clients Want It Fast, Clean, and Affordable

Whether you’re designing websites, writing copy, editing videos, or building products. today’s clients expect three things:

⚡ 1. Speed

Nobody’s paying top dollar for delays. Clients on platforms like Upwork aren’t trying to wait months for results. They come because they want fast, high-quality outcomes yesterday.

🧠 2. Smarter Output

Clients don’t want to waste hours fixing sloppy work. They want deliverables that are sharp, smart, and launch-ready. Tools like Gemini help reduce error-prone mistakes and raise the quality bar.

💸 3. Cost-Efficiency

In a world where time is money, the freelancer who delivers more value in less time wins. AI helps you do more, with less so you can take on more projects without burning out.

Bottom line?
AI isn’t a threat. It’s leverage.

I don’t just use Gemini for quick copy or code snippets. I work with it.

It helps me:

Think clearer

Pitch better

Build faster

Write sharper

And scale smarter

It's the creative partner I didn’t know I needed.

Sometimes it challenges my ideas. Sometimes it finishes my thoughts. Most times, it just saves me hours.

🚀 How I Use Gemini to 2x My Freelance Workflow

AI isn’t just a tool I keep in my back pocket, it’s integrated into every stage of my workflow. From the first DM to the final delivery, Gemini is right there with me. Here’s how:

1. 🧠 Ideation: From Blank Page to Brilliant Concepts

Ever stared at your screen thinking, “Where do I even start?”

Gemini helps me brainstorm faster and smarter.

How I use it:

I feed it a rough project idea or client brief.

I ask for headline options, visual directions, or even creative angles I might’ve missed.

It generates a list of potential directions, some I build on, some I combine, and some spark new ideas entirely.

Example:
Client wants a landing page for a new fintech app. I ask Gemini:

“Give me 5 creative themes for a high-converting fintech landing page targeting Gen Z.”

In 30 seconds, I have ideas centered around "gamified finance," "personalized dashboards," and even “Spotify-style spending summaries.” It jumpstarts the process instantly.

2. 📝 Pitching Better: Proposals That Feel Personal (Without the Time Drain)

Writing good proposals is an art, and also a time suck.
But with Gemini, I can write high-quality, custom-feeling proposals in a fraction of the time.

How I use it:

I paste the job post and my offer details.

I ask Gemini to help write a friendly, engaging proposal that matches the tone of the client’s post.

I tweak it slightly to keep my voice intact.

Bonus: I even have Gemini help me A/B test headlines or intros based on the client’s style.

Example Prompt:

“Write a friendly but confident Upwork proposal for a Framer website redesign project. The client values speed, mobile responsiveness, and modern UI.”

Now instead of spending an hour writing from scratch, I spend 3 minutes fine-tuning a proposal that sounds like me, on my best day.

3. 🧪 Prototyping Quicker: Code, Components, & Creative Experiments

Before Gemini, prototyping often meant bouncing between Google, Stack Overflow, and old project files. Now? I just describe what I want, and Gemini gives me the scaffolding.

How I use it:

I write a plain English prompt like:

“Give me a responsive Framer layout with a hero section, feature cards, and call-to-action.”

Gemini returns clean, structured code or layout logic.

I copy, paste, and tweak in my builder, way faster than starting from scratch.

What this replaces:

30 minutes of Googling CSS or Framer docs

Endless tab-hopping for UI inspiration

Guesswork in early development

4. ✍️ Content Creation: Smarter, Faster Copywriting

From microcopy to long-form content, Gemini helps me write faster, and better.

Use cases:

Generating blog outlines or hero headlines

Rewriting confusing sections in client content

SEO-friendly copy without keyword stuffing

Example Prompt:

“Rewrite this hero section to feel more energetic and target creative entrepreneurs.”
Or
“Give me 3 taglines for a luxury fashion ecommerce site.”

In seconds, I’ve got refined copy options that actually convert.

5. 🚀 Delivery & Post-Launch: Less Stress, More Polish

Final delivery doesn’t just mean handing over files, it means wrapping up the project cleanly and confidently.

How I use Gemini here:

Writing handoff documentation

Creating simple tutorials for clients

Drafting thank-you messages or follow-up emails

Generating quick QA checklists to make sure nothing was missed

Bonus Use:
If the client wants to repurpose the site into an ad campaign or newsletter, I ask Gemini for that too, turning one project into multiple wins.

The AI Gap – Shows how freelancers using AI like Gemini grow faster over time, while others plateau.

✨ The Bottom Line

Gemini isn’t just helping me save time, it’s helping me think bigger, do better work, and scale my freelance business without burning out.

Ideate → Pitch → Prototype → Polish → Deliver
AI assists me every step of the way.

🧨 “But Won’t AI Replace Us?”

This one needs to be shouted from the rooftops:

AI replaces tasks, not talent.

It automates the boring stuff.

It clears the clutter.

It gives you space, to think, to create, to lead.

And the truth is:

Your creativity + AI = an unfair advantage.

The freelancers who thrive in this era won’t be the ones who resist AI.
They’ll be the ones who ride it.

🎯 The Real Wins of Working With AI

Let’s talk about what actually improves when you integrate AI like Gemini into your process:

✅ Less burnout
✅ More creative headspace
✅ Faster client delivery
✅ Higher quality work
✅ More revenue, without more hours

AI doesn’t just make you quicker.
It makes you smarter, more strategic, and more scalable.

🛫 Final Word: Be the Pilot, Not the Passenger

“Freelancers who master AI won’t be replaced by it.
They’ll lead with it.”

This is not the time to sit back and watch.

With tools like Gemini, we’re not waiting for the future of work, we’re building it.

So the real question is:

Will you be a passenger in this new era?
Or will you be the pilot?

Your call, boss.

So let me say it differently:

👉🏽 Gatekeep anything, but not your potential.

Let me tell you a little secret: I’m a naturally shy person.
Actually, let me rephrase that I used to be a very shy person.

If I had my way, I’d probably delete all my social media, buy a one-way ticket to Greece, settle in a quiet town, find a neighbor named Matilda, and just live a soft, quiet life.

But here's the thing: I know I’m capable of so much more.
I want to do more.
And at the same time, I struggle with showing what I can do.
That inner tension between potential and fear is probably why you’re still reading this. Because maybe you feel it too.

You’ve got things you want to create.
You’ve got ideas, dreams, talents, and stories that you want to share with the world.
But then... the doubts creep in.

“What if they don’t like it?”

“What will people say?”

“Ugh, this feels so cringe.”

Sounds familiar? Let me walk you through the mindset shifts that helped me step into the light and start building an audience that doesn’t just see my work, but resonates with it:

1. “What if they don’t like it?”

Then you learn. That’s it.
Feedback isn’t the end of the world… it’s just data.
Let it shape the next thing you create. Growth happens when you listen, not when you hide.

2. “What will people say?”

What won’t they say?! 😂
The truth is, people will always have something to say. And guess what? That’s none of your business.
There are 8.2 billion people on Earth. Are you really going to let the opinion of one random Twitter troll stop you?
Zoom out. This entire planet is a speck in the universe. Do your thing.

3. “But it feels cringe…”

Yes. It is cringe — at first.
But everything feels awkward when it’s new.
You feel it more because you’re the one doing it, and your inner critic has a long, loud checklist of expectations. But motion kills cringe. You’ve got to start to stop feeling stuck.

Real Talk:

Showing up is hard. It takes guts.
But it’s also the only way to live a life that isn’t painfully average.

You were blessed with potential for a reason.
Imagine dying ordinary, when you were never meant to blend in.

Gatekeep anything your skincare routine, your music playlists, your favorite coffee shop.
But not your potential. Never that.

Let the world see what you’re made of.
Even if it’s scary.
Even if it’s messy.
Even if it’s cringe.

Show up anyway.

Please note:
I’m not trying to motivate you. Honestly, I don’t care — but if you don’t show up, you’re Gay :)

It’s easy to assume the world doesn’t need “another voice”. That your thoughts have already been tweeted, blogged, or recorded by someone else. So you stay quiet, scrolling through what others are saying, nodding in agreement, whispering your ideas into the void of your own mind.

But here’s the truth: no one can say it like you can… even if they can, it’s still not you. You get my point?

Even if the core idea has been shared a hundred times, your voice, your story, your way of framing it will resonate with people in a way others never could. That’s the power of perspective. And more often than not, the people who need to hear it? They’re not looking for perfection or originality — they’re looking for realness. They’re looking for you.

We live in a time when it’s never been easier to share your voice — through writing, speaking, tweeting, creating, or simply showing up. And yet, so many sit in silence, convinced they need a bigger audience before they begin.

But audiences don’t just appear. They gather. Slowly. One post at a time. One perspective at a time.

So say the thing.

Write the post.
Record the video.
Share the thought.

Don’t wait until you feel “ready.” Don’t wait until you think it’s “new.” Start talking. You’d be surprised who’s listening.

Plus, this is not me motivating you, If you like read this and still not Speak, that’s your cup of tea.

Anyway, keep up with me and what I’m up to Here

You apply, apply, apply… and nothing.
I’ve been there. But once I figured out this 4-step proposal strategy, everything changed.
This exact method helped me land my first $10k+ in freelance earnings — and today, I’m well on my way to hitting $30k.

If you’re serious about winning freelance jobs, you need to master this. Whether you’re on Upwork, Fiverr, LinkedIn, or cold pitching via email — this approach works everywhere.

Here’s what every winning proposal should cover:

Personalisation

What you bring to the table (and how you’ll solve the client’s problem)

Why choose YOU over the rest

A simple call to action

Let’s break it down:

1. Personalization: Show Them You’re Not Just Spraying and Praying

The biggest mistake I see freelancers make? Sending the same generic copy-paste proposal to everyone.

Stop that.

Clients can smell a template from a mile away. And if they don’t feel like you’re talking to them, they won’t even open it.

So how do you personalize?

Start by learning something about the client. On Upwork, this could be:

Their name (often available in reviews from other freelancers)

Their company name or product (if mentioned in the job post)

The exact pain point they’ve described

Here’s a simple opener that I’ve used countless times:

Hi Sarah,
I saw that you're looking for help redesigning your Shopify store — I checked out the link you shared, and I already have a few ideas that could improve the product pages and speed up the site.

That alone shows you’ve paid attention. It builds trust before you even pitch.

2. What You Have to Offer (AKA, Your Solution)

Once you’ve got their attention, it’s time to bring in the big guns — how you plan to help.

But here’s the thing: this isn’t about bragging. It’s about being clear, relevant, and solution-focused.

Don’t list your skills. Don’t dump your résumé. Instead, address their problem and explain what you’d do.

Here’s an example:

I’d approach this by first identifying where the drop-offs are happening in your current flow — then I’d redesign those pages to simplify the journey and add trust signals. I’ve done this for other ecommerce brands, and it often results in 20–30% more conversions.

Be specific. Make it real. Focus on what’s in it for them.

3. Why Choose You?

Now that they know you can help, this is your moment to stand out.

Other freelancers will be offering similar services — so why should they pick you?

This is where you drop a quick proof point, social proof, or a unique advantage.

Examples:

“I recently helped a brand in your niche scale from 4 to 6 figures in 3 months.”

“I’m not just a designer — I understand how design affects conversion, and I bring that lens into every project.”

“With 20+ 5-star reviews and 100% Job Success, my clients stick around for a reason.”

It doesn’t have to be flashy. It just needs to be reassuring.

4. Call to Action: Make the Next Step Easy

Most proposals end with something like:

Let me know if you’re interested.

Nope. That’s too passive. You’ve already done the work to get them interested — now make it easy to move forward.

Your CTA should feel natural, not pushy.

Try:

“If this sounds good, I’d be happy to hop on a quick call this week to discuss further.”

“Want me to send over a quick draft outline of what the redesign could look like?”

“If you’d like to move forward, I can get started as early as tomorrow.”

Be clear, be confident, and invite them to take action.

Final Thoughts: This Works. I’m Living Proof.

There’s no magic Upwork hack. But if there’s anything close, it’s this framework.

This is the exact structure that helped me:

Land my first $1k client

Win multiple long-term retainers

Cross $10k in earnings

Now on my way to $30k+

If you’re struggling to get replies or feel like your proposals are being ghosted, try this structure on your next 3 jobs. Adjust it to your voice, stay honest, and track the results.

"Can I trust this person to deliver?"

No matter how great your portfolio looks or how well-written your bio is, if there’s no proof from others who’ve worked with you, many clients will hesitate to hit that “Hire” button. They're not just buying your time—they're investing in the outcome you promise.

So how do you tip the scale in your favor?

Ask for Testimonials. Simple, Right?

One of the most effective (and most overlooked) ways to build trust is by adding authentic testimonials from past clients.

These don’t have to be long paragraphs. A few lines from a real client, especially one praising your work in your core skill set, goes a long way in proving your credibility.

Better yet, if you’re on Upwork, you don’t even have to leave the platform. Upwork allows you to request testimonials directly from your profile—even from clients you’ve worked with outside the platform.

Here’s how to do it:

Go to your Upwork profile.

Scroll down to the Testimonials section.

Click “Request a testimonial.”

Send a short, polite message to a past client.

Done.

It takes less than 5 minutes.

What Should You Say?

Here’s a quick example of a message you can send:

“Hi [Client's Name], I really enjoyed working with you on [Project Name]. If you’re open to it, I’d love to have a short testimonial from you for my Upwork profile. Just 1–2 sentences about your experience would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!”

Short. Friendly. Respectful of their time.

Final Thoughts

Trust isn't built by telling people you're great. It's built by showing them that others trust you too.

So if you're trying to land more clients, get more visibility, and grow your freelance business—don’t sleep on testimonials.

They're easy to get, powerful to display, and they do a lot of the convincing for you.

If you’re a developer trying to break into freelancing, mastering technical skills like React, Vue, or Next.js is great—but it might not be the fastest way to get noticed or land gigs on platforms like Upwork.

Here’s why:

Many clients on freelance platforms want quick turnarounds. They’re not necessarily looking for complex tech stacks—they want results, fast.

And when you’re juggling multiple projects, cloning repositories, managing codebases, and setting up environments for every client can become a productivity nightmare.

As a freelancer, your time is your most valuable asset. So the question becomes:

Is writing code from scratch the best use of your time for every project?

3 No-Code / Low-Code Tools That Changed the Game for Me:

These tools have growing demand on Upwork and can dramatically improve your speed and delivery:

WordPress — Perfect for quickly launching blogs, business sites, or e-commerce platforms with endless plugin support.

Webflow — A visual web builder that gives you full design control without writing a single line of code.

Framer — Ideal for building interactive prototypes and sleek landing pages in record time.

By using these tools, I’ve been able to:

Take on more projects

Deliver faster turnarounds

Impress clients with beautiful results—without burnout

You don’t have to abandon code. But mixing in these platforms can boost your efficiency and open more doors—especially when you’re starting out or trying to scale.

Pro tip: Freelancing is more about solving problems than showcasing the fanciest tech stack.
Start where speed and clarity win. The clients (and cash flow) will follow. 💼⚡

Starting out as a freelancer with zero real-world projects? That doesn't mean you can't build a standout portfolio. In fact, you shouldn't wait for permission to start creating.

Here’s how to build proof of your skills—without waiting for clients.

1. Stop Waiting, Start Creating

Most clients won’t take a chance on someone who has nothing to show—even if you offer to work for free.

So instead of waiting for opportunities, create your own.

2. Reverse-Engineer Real Projects

Here’s a simple framework that works:

Pick an existing website or app

Spot a problem or area for improvement

Design a better solution

Examples:

Dentist’s website — Cluttered landing page? Redesign it to improve user experience and boost appointment bookings.

App landing page — Poor visuals and weak messaging? Optimize it for better conversions and more downloads.

Treat each project like it’s from a paying client. You could even go the extra mile and pitch the redesign to the actual business.

3. Showcase Your Work Early

Once you have two or three solid projects, build your portfolio site and publish them. Don’t get stuck perfecting it.

Your portfolio is a living document—it’ll evolve as you grow. Just get version one out there.

4. Action > Waiting

Every freelancer you admire started somewhere. The only difference is they started.

Start building today. Show your skills. Attract your first client. 💡

When a prospective client is looking through a list of potential freelancers to work with on their project that client on Upwork does not care about you. You need to assume that the only thing that client cares about is what’s in it for them. They don’t care about your current job or career, pets name or anything like that all they care about is
What can you do for them today!!!RESULTSTell her your whole strategy around that and you will do exceedingly well.

Headshots / Profile Picture

🧩 Focus on what’s most important,
Get something that shows your face clearly and doesn’t have a busy background.

Note⚠️ :
You don’t need to do a photoshoot, you’re not going on the cover of Forbes magazine… at least maybe not yet

Keywords

After deciding what Niche & Service(s) you want to render, you need to research what clients are looking for in your field

Use SPECIFIC key terms that only relate to YOUR SERVICE & what you’re trying to rank for.

What you want to do is when you’re going through the jobs that are out there you want to search a ton of different terms and you want to write down the ones that just keep coming up in your space

unique words ideally that could only be used in your space for example, if you do web development “Web” not great “Development” not great “Web development” also not great.

What I found that typically works extremely well is looking for specific terms representative of Tech Terms Specific platforms…

Bio Description

If there’s one thing that you want to focus on more than anything else in your profile overview — • it is going to be those first two sentences. That’s what’s gonna pop up first and that’s what people are gonna see first so that’s gotta be top-notchThe other thing that’s going to be extremely important in all of this is going to be your HEADLINE that’s gonna pop up in search too. It needs to be descriptive and needs to be punchy and it needs to be extremely short. You do not have a lot of real estate here you need to come out of the gate swingingAn overview structure that I found works well:

1 Your open sentences that’s what’s people see when your profile comes up
2. Good fit clients… focus on the clients struggle, that need solution
3. Benefits of working with you
4. CTA (Call To Action)

Portfolio Section

You don’t need 100 work examples in fact you only need 3 minimum viable portfolio examples but just make them very good.

How to create a portfolio — •

It is worth it to put in most of your effort in this process into those work examples because if you can nail them that will sell clients for you.

it definitely adds an extra layer of depth to your profile and is nice to have, but tbh, this isn’t a requirement…
